HYALURONIC ACID

2019-12-20

What is hyaluronic acid?

HA is a high molecular-weight polysaccharide composed of repeating polymeric disaccharides of d-glucuronic acid and N-acetyl-d-glucosamine. It is a major component of skin, where it is best known for its unique capacity in retaining water and repair of epidermal tissue. HA is widely used as ingredient in many skincare products and supplements.

How to extract hyaluronic acid?

HA can be isolated from two main sources: the extract from the animal tissue and microbial fermentation. Traditionally HA was extracted form rooster combs (Purification of HA:< 80%), and now it is mainly produced via streptococcal fermentation. Microbial Fermentation of Streptococcus Zooepidemicus is considered as the most efficient way to produced HA. It is able to extract higher purification of small-molecule HA(> 87%) that the body can more easily absorb and causes less environmental pollution.

The benefits of taking oral hyaluronic acid

Increase skin moisture and reduce the wrinkles

HA helps retain 500-1000 times its weight in water within the cells of skin, keeping sufficient moisture in skin, which increase the skin’s elasticity. Studies suggest that ingesting it orally can keep your skin moisturized and balance your skin’s natural oils. Further, it leads to the improvement in the appearance of skin by actually softening wrinkles and increasing luster. The amount of naturally-occurring HA in our bodies decreases as we get older. However, we can slow down the process by taking oral supplements that contain HA regularly, which helps making our skin look younger and more supple.

Reduce joint pain, promote joint health and support joint structure

A clinical study from Japan by Review (2016) suggests that oral HA are helpful for people suffering pain from osteoarthritis(OA). HA as a dietary supplement exhibits mild efficacy with no side effects, and provides some possibility of prevention and treatment for patients experiencing knee OA pain.

How does our body absorb oral hyaluronic acid?

When taken HA orally, about 80~90% of the HA is absorbed intact. It is broken down into its component sugars, influencing fibroblast proliferation and remanufacturing hyaluronic acid in the body, which keeps the skin moisturized.

Radiance + Hydration

HA are one of our in Radiance + Hydration. Extracted from microbial fermentation, its high water holding capacity can strengthen the natural hydrating ability of the skin. Our second tonic helps to improve the moisture of the skin by strengthening the skin’s barrier, maintaining healthy skin function and more radiant skin.
